Why Counseling?
Life is hard. Sometimes we hit icebergs and we feel like we are going to sink. Other times, we feel like our ship is spinning and spinning out of control. In today's world we are overscheduled, overworked, and completely stressed. Our margins are thin, our spirits can be weak, and in the end we suffer.
We feel alone. We are in the world with noise and static and thousands of "friends" but the truth is we are dying to truly be known.
As a counselor, clients say that I provide a safe, private environment for growth and exploration. I come alongside my clients to help them re-establish the life that they want, a life based on values, purpose, and allowing healing. My clients are able to restore hope through empowerment, awareness and possibilities.
I work with couples, families, teens and adolescents, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy and a family systems approach. I have also been trained in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples) and EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitazation and Reprocessing for trauma).
Typical counseling topics include: depression, anxiety, parenting, marital and relationship challenges, self-esteem, teen challenges, attachment wounds and conflict resolution. It is a privilege and an honor to walk with clients from where they are to where they want to be.
